January 31-February 1,2009: Second Annual Gathering of Women Extraordinaire
Facilitated by Angie Malmgren & Arleen Kerrigan, staff members
We will begin @ 9 am on Saturday morning and conclude at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
This is a weekend in which we set aside all worry & anxiety and allow ourselves the time to listen deeply to God’s loving, nurturing voice within. This sacred time is for you to share your story with other women, and to be nurtured by the Spirit’s presence among us. We’ll offer time for massages, cranial-sacral massage, healing touch, art journaling, spiritual direction, and private session journaling at a nominal cost or no cost. And then there are the surprises. . .Come and be pampered at this special weekend just for YOU!! Cost is $130, payable upon registration, & includes meals, accommodations & surprises!!
Angie has been a Pastoral Associate in her parish, is Co-Director of Jesus House & holds a Masters Degree in Pastoral Care & Counseling from Neumann College with certification in Spiritual Direction.
Arleen has been a Teaching Director for an international scripture study for 5 years and holds a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University of New Orleans.

Thursday, October 23 ~ 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Gift of Healing ~God’s Compassion Manifested Today. Led by Chris & Angie Malmgren, Co-Directors of Jesus House Prayer & Renewal Center.
During this day of reflection Chris and Angie will share their own stories of healing as well as the desire that arose from their experiences to reach out to others. They will share their perspective of this ministry. Their belief is that the gift of healing is an extension of Christ’s ministry of compassionate outreach which each of us can share with others here and now. It is one of the ways that Christ’s presence is manifested today.
The day will include a morning presentation on healing by Chris and Angie. A Healing Mass celebrated by Fr. Mark Kopacz includes anointing of the Sacrament of the Sick & laying on of hands. A luncheon will follow.
Cost is $35, payable upon registration.

Tuesday, November 18 ~ 9:30 –2:45 p.m. “Preparing For Advent”
Led by Mary Louise Chesley-Cora : Come join in preparing for a new year of Grace – beginning in Advent of 2008 ( just 12 days from this day of reflection). Come and hear Isaiah the prophet, come and hear John’s call, come and experience Mary’s call, David’s call…come and hear your own call to respond in new ways to God’s love in your life and await the coming of Christ in glory. The day will weave together music, scripture, prayer, silence, sharing, as we prepare for a new year of discipleship as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
Mary Louise Chesley-Cora has a M.A. in Religious Studies and Certificates from Bat Kol Institute in Jerusalem and LaSalle /Gratz College for Jewish Studies.
She has been a Director of Religious Education, Coordinator of Liturgy, Music and Youth Ministry, led many retreat programs for teens, adults and RCIA groups, has facilitated two LIMEX programs in the Diocese of Wilmington, taught theology and scripture and was Campus Minister at Padua Academy. She has done numerous presentations on Women in Scripture and The Jewishness of Jesus for catechists and parishes in the Diocese. She has been involved in liturgical music and liturgy most of her life. Mary Louise presently volunteers at Resurrection Parish as Co-Chair of the Adult Faith Formation Committee, parish musician and member of the “Just Faith II” group.
She is available for retreats and various presentations for areas mentioned above.
Cost is $35 payable upon registration, and includes Mass and Lunch.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 ~ 9:30 –1:30 p.m. Elizabeth, Beloved Cousin (a one act play with Gina McKenna-Smith) The first woman you meet in the Gospel of Luke is Elizabeth. A descendant of the priestly line of Aaron, Wife of Zechariah. Mother of the John the Baptizer, Beloved Cousin of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Who was Elizabeth? She was a handmaid of the Lord who trusted the Mother of Jesus in her time of labor and deliverance. She was a woman known under her own name, who spoke with conviction the word of the Lord to all. She is the only woman in the New Testament called “Righteous”. God gave Elizabeth a new ministry in her old age.He can do the same for you.
Gina studied acting and trained under the direction of playwright & former Director of the Great Lakes Shakespeare Theater Festival, Mary Fournier Bill. Her role credits include Desdemona in Othello, Felicity in An Infinite Deal of Nothing and St. Joan in Joan of Lorraine. She has also acted in commercial work for television. Because she is deeply committed to sharing the Gospel message of Christ, she has devoted her talent to that purpose. She is currently performing her original Christian dramas throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware & Ohio. She founded Springhouse Productions in 1992. She lives with her husband in New Jersey and has three adult children.

This book is a “gentle guide to discerning God’s will for your life.” It invites us to reflect upon and go deeper within ourselves to seek answers to the following questions: What does God wish for you in your life? How do you listen for God’s gracious guidance as you face daily decisions, both big and small? And how do you know that what you are hearing comes from God – and not your ego or simply your own wishful thinking? We meet from 10:30 – noon on the above Mondays.

“Are you googling God? Is God on your favorites? Perhaps you would be interested in attending a group that will be meeting at Jesus House Prayer & Renewal Center. We will be gathering once a month for prayer & fellowship, beginning Tuesday, September 9 and thereafter on the second Tuesday of the month in Emmaus, one of the retreat houses at Jesus House.
Elizabeth Skorup, will be facilitating this group. She holds a Masters in Pastoral Care & Counseling from Neumann College, with certification in Spiritual Direction

Praying With Ignatius of Loyola ~9 weeks ~Led by Mary An Love
Beginning Wed. Oct.1 – ending Nov. 26, 2008 Cost is $120, due upon registration.
“Praying With Ignatius of Loyola” is an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises and follows the same four themes of the full Exercises. Each week, the prayers reflect one of the themes. In addition, at the weekly meetings we will discuss various topics relating to Ignatian spirituality.
Mary An Love , a secular Carmelite, holds a Master’s degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling, from Neumann College, with certification in Spiritual Direction. She is involved in a local lay Carmelite Community. Formerly, coordinator in the Office of Parish Social Ministry for Catholic Charities, she presently offers retreats, days of prayer, seminars & workshops in the area of Spirituality
Write to Heal: Personal Journal-Keeping Workshop ~ 4 weeks ~Led by Joan Leof
Beginning Tues. Oct. 21 –ending Nov. 11, 2008, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $60, due upon registration.
Research shows that releasing negative emotions through writing can benefit your health. So can writing about the things for which you are grateful. This workshop will teach a variety of techniques to do those things and emphasize that there is only one rule when writing to heal . . .TOTAL HONESTY. Joan can set you up on individual projects within the group. No writing has to be shared. Join us to learn how to use personal writing as a tool for transformation and empowerment. If you are more comfortable with art journaling, that is an option also.
Chicken Soup For the Unsinkable Soul Book Discussion Group Led by Joan Leof
Monthly on the 1st Thursday from Oct. 2, 2008 – Mar. 5, 2009-9:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $90 for the 6 sessions, $45 payable upon registration, $45 due by Jan. 15, 2009.
When is the last time you were read to? Come and hear Joan read from “…101 Inspirational Stories of Overcoming Life’s Challenges.” Of course, you may read the stories ahead of time, but it is not necessary for you to do so to attend. Discussion follows about what qualities enabled those in the book to succeed. Personal sharing related to the stories is encouraged, although not required. The introduction says, “From the humorous to the heroic, from the extraordinary to the everyday, each story emphasized victory in spite of the odds.” Listen and be enriched by the role models in the book and fellow seekers in the class.
Joan Leof, Jesus House Facilitator of Journaling in Residence, has been facilitating workshops in self-expression for over two decades. Clients have ranged from 9 years old to the 90’s and have been from diverse backgrounds. She has created a specialty called Write to Heal where she helps participants use writing therapeutically. Joan believes in giving participants abundant choices during a workshop and help in developing the confidence to create their own rules for journaling. We are happy to have Joan Leof share her abundant wisdom with our retreatants. Besides the workshops listed above, in the Spring of 2009 she will be doing a workshop on Ethical Wills, and she’ll also be available for individual sessions at the Women’s Retreat in January, 2009. BIBLE STUDY
To honor St. Paul in this year centered on him both as “Apostle to the Gentiles” and as a great teacher, we are offering a monthly study on his letter to the Philippians, Led by Pamela Nash, who is in the Master’s Program for Pastoral Care & Counseling with certification in Spiritual Direction. The key to the letter to the Philippians is Joy. Wouldn’t we like to trade our doubts and depression for hope and joy: Paul knows how and shares it in his letter to the Philippians. Come join us for this wonderful study where Paul teaches us how to have joy in all circumstances.
We will begin January 13, 2009 and continue on the second Tuesday of the month until June 9th. cost: $15 for the series, includes booklet.
