On this day we will explore the life, words, and works of Dorothy Day, 20th century American single mother, advocate for peace, poor and justice. She challenged policies of state and Church and yet was devoutly Christian and honored by Church, public and those of no religion. See how she might help us now in time of war, economic trials, injustice and religious debates as to how best to live our public and private lives as committed Christians There will be presentations, periods of private reflection and small group sharing.
The day will be led by Jack Neill, a Spiritual Director, long time educator, workshop and retreat leader. He has advanced degrees in theology, pastoral counseling and education and is currently active in nursing home and hospital ministry, religious education and facilitating group lectio divina.

Apr. 27 ~SOUL COLLAGE® INSIGHTS INTO THE SOUL

Images and symbols can be powerful tools to communicate meaning and insight. SoulCollage® is a process of creating 5”x8” collage cards – an art process and spiritual craft that anyone can do.  We’ll learn how to move fragments of cut-out magazine pictures around,  fitting them together in a surprising new way. This uncovers and brings forth new insights into our interior life. During this workshop we’ll learn the principles of SoulCollage® and make 1 or 2 cards. All materials and supplies will be provided.

This workshop will be facilitated by Pamela Leland,  a spiritual director and a trained facilitator of SoulCollage® with Liz Sweeney,  SSJ,  a spiritual director at Jesus House.   Liz has experienced the process and sees its immense spiritual potential.

WRITING A SPIRITUAL AUTO-BIOGRAPHY –a series led by Joan Leof

Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 2/4 –2/25.
There are many definitions of a spiritual autobiography, and many methods to write one. In the broadest sense, writing a spiritual autobiography is an opportunity to take time to reflect on your awareness of God in your life and how that awareness has developed in your life up to now ---- the people, places and experiences.
Joan Leof, our Journalist in Residence, will lead this workshop. She brings over 20 years experience teaching journaling.

WEEKEND RETREATS
THE GIFT OF CENTERING PRAYER

Led by Therese Saulnier. Cost: $200
Centering Prayer is a method that prepares one to receive the gift of God’s Presence, traditionally called contemplative Prayer. It is drawn from the ancient Practices of the Christian heritage, notably the Mothers & Fathers of the desert. Lectio Divina (praying the Scriptures), the Cloud of Unknowing and the writings of John of the Cross & St. Theresa of Avila.
Our retreat director is Therese Saulnier, M.A. She has been practicing Centering Prayer for over 20 years. She has earned a Masters of Arts degree in Theology from Fordham University, and is a member of the faculty of Contemplative Outreach, which for over 25 years has been dedicated to transmitting the living tradition of the contemplative Christian tradition through the teachings of Fr. Thomas Keating and through programs that support contemplative living for those in ordinary life.
