What might result if psychologists were to integrate the wisdom of the mystics - Christians, Jews, and Muslims who experienced a close connection with the divine? Could such a spiritual-psychological integration help lessen anxiety, deepen the meaning in our lives, and enrich relationships? Could it offer new support with spiritual issues?
These meetings will explore how mystics like Teresa of Avila and psychologists like Richard Schwartz understand human nature. The program explores the overlap of spiritual perspectives and modern psychological concepts using didactic teachings, metaphors, images, poetry, music and experiential activities.
Chris Hyde, PhD, is a psychologist who, has worked in inner city schools, the adolescent judicial system, and on projects studying ADHD, addiction, aggression, and trauma treatment.
