Christian R. Malmgren
July 7, 1935 ~ May 11, 2023

It is with heavy but faith filled hearts that we announce that one of our beloved founders, Christian R. Malmgren, returned home on May 11, 2023.

It was 1974 that Christian and Angela Malmgren answered the call, purchased property on Milltown Road, moved in with their four young children, and began a 42 year journey as Co-Directors of Jesus House Prayer and Renewal Center. Together they created a refuge and a haven of healing, peace, love, prayer, faith and joy!

All who knew Chris were blessed by his kindness, his wonderful sense of humor and his genuine care for everyone he met! He lived with the love of Christ and was a light in the world for all to see. May Angie and his family be comforted through our prayers, the wonderful memories that they shared and with the knowledge that they will be together again in heaven!

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Jesus House Society, Board of Directors

Christian R. Malmgren was born on July 7, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, and was born into eternal life on May 11, 2023, the son of Christian Malmgren and Arlene (Ellison) Malmgren McMonigle. He received certification as an Audio-Visual Specialist and Teacher Naturalist. He is proud to have served in the United States Army and is a Korean War Veteran. He was President of the Board at St. Patrick's Senior Center and worked with Sr. Dolores Macklin & Fr. Jim Trainor to help establish the Center in the beginning years. In 1975, he and his wife, Angela, founded Jesus House Prayer & Renewal Center and for the next 42 years were Co- Directors, leading many Retreats Days of Reflection, Bible Studies, and Book Groups. He was also a member of the Pastoral Team for Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Wilmington and Chaplain at Manor Care for a number of years. Chris made his Cursillio weekend and proceeded to be a team member on many subsequent weekends

He is survived by his loving wife Angela and would have celebrated their 60th Anniversary in August. He is the proud and loving father of Christian B. Malmgren (Yolanda), Pamela Burgos (Jose), Ross Malmgren (Sheri) and Cynthia Leski (Stephen). Grandfather of 10: Alexis, Lauren, and TJ Burgos; Ross Christian and Emily Malmgren, Nina and Nicholas Leski, and Jessica and Amanda Lopez; and great grandfather of 12. Prayer for Ukraine

A Prayer for Peace by Pope Francis

God, Lord of all creation, lover of life and of everything, please help us to love in our very small way what You love infinitely and everywhere.

We thank You that we can offer just this one prayer and that will be more than enough, because in reality every thing and every one is connected, and nothing stands alone.

To pray for one part is really to pray for the whole, and so we do. Help us each day to stand for love, for healing, for the good, for the diverse unity of the Body of Christ and all creation, because we know this is what You desire: as Jesus prayed, that all may be one.

We offer our prayer together with all the holy names of God, we offer our prayer together with Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Fr. Richard Rohr

Monday through Friday.

Beloved, you are faithful in all you do for the brothers and sisters, especially for strangers; they have testified to your love before the church. Please help them, in a way worthy of God, to continue their journey. Therefore, we ought to support such persons, so that we may be co-workers in the truth.
